An outdoor guy from the White Mountains of New Hampshire and a city girl from Boston now call Snowshoe their winter home.   She an accomplished underwater photographer, skier and cyclist.  He an avid high altitude climber, ski patroller and scuba diver.  His glacier climbs include Kilimanjaro in Africa, and Pumori, Kala Patar, Goyko Ri, Island Peak and Everest Base Camp in the Himalaya of Nepal.   In winter Kip is a professional ski patrolman on Snowshoe Mountain.  Both PADI Master Scuba Divers, you'll find Bettyanne with camera, Kip at her side, diving the reefs and wrecks of the Caribbean the rest of the year.

 
One of Snowshoe's nicest couples, Gil and Mary Willis exemplify local ownership of some great small businesses you'll enjoy.   For light meals, sandwiches, pizza, bar and entertainment, visit the Fiddle Head, at the Rt 219/66 entrance to the mountain.  Just 3 miles south, their Elk River Inn and Restaurant is renown for fine dining and off mountain lodging.  Both showcase Mary's culinary creativity and hospitality.  You'll find Gil helping guests at the Elk River Snowboard and Ski Shops, with 2 locations at the top and bottom of the mountain.  See Gil for rental gear and equipment sales and service.  Gil is also the prime mover behind mountain biking and trout fishing in our neck of the woods.
